Why Hire Military Professionals?

American service men and women are among the world’s most highly trained and well disciplined people in the world. After completing their service honorably, many of these professionals want to continue to employ their skills in the private sector. This force of mature, seasoned professionals – many with combat experience and security clearances - are a rich source of highly qualified employees.

Consider the training and experience of a typical US Navy Aviation Electricians Mate:

  • 10 weeks of Recruit Training – Learns general military and Navy protocol, first aid, safety, swimming, fire fighting and damage control, seamanship, water survival and physical fitness.
  • 7 weeks Avionics Common Core – Learns basic skills in aviation fundamentals, DC/AC electricity/electronics, digital principles and solid state devices.
  • 10 weeks Aviation Electrician’s Mate Strand – Learns to perform routine and scheduled maintenance on aircraft electrical, instrument and navigation systems.
  • 5 weeks Aircraft Specific Electrical and Instrument Systems – Learns to describe the safe operation and function of the aircraft specific electrical and instrumentation systems, including AC/DC power, engine control, environmental control, hydraulic, fuel, navigation and flight control.

After reporting to a squadron this individual will spend every day applying their skills and learning from their shipmates. This sailor will make at least one deployment overseas aboard an aircraft carrier or amphibious assault ship and several detachment trips with parts of the squadron both within and outside the borders of the United States. There is a very good possibility this sailor will serve in a combat zone during his or her six year enlistment. Every time this sailor works on an aircraft he or she is taking the life of the pilot and crew into their hands. Very few occupations in the private sector demand this level of maturity, skill and professionalism.

The technical areas of expertise this individual brings to the private sector are impressive:

  • Maintenance Team Leader
  • Troubleshooting
  • Circuitry
  • Electrical Distribution
  • Quality Inspection
  • Integrated Systems
  • Problem Solving
  • Analyzing Schematics
  • Relays
  • Life Support Systems
  • Soldering
  • Data Buses

This sailor also likely to have at least a “Secret” security clearance. Clearly, this individual is highly qualified for any number of technically demanding positions.
